Tomas McGarvey has secured the unanimous acquittal of a 24-year old London based man accused of organising and directing the commercial supply of crack cocaine and heroin in the Brighton and Hove area.
The prosecution case centred on a ‘County Lines’ drug phone line that had been in operation in the Sussex area for several years. Sussex police began a large investigation into drug supply in the area utilising undercover officers.
The case against Tomas’s client centred on phone evidence, material found on a number of phone handsets, ANPR and surveillance evidence. The prosecution case appeared to be very strong at first blush, but Tomas successfully argued that there was ‘No Case To Answer’ in relation to the alleged conspiracy and the trial judge agreed. The Jury were directed to formally enter a ‘Not Guilty’ plea at the close of the prosecution case.
