George Hepburne-Scott Wins Another Extradition Case

On 22 July 2022, George’s client, W.S., (the Requested Person) a 46-year-old Polish national was discharged from an Extradition Arrest Warrant that had been issued by Poland.  George had succeeded in persauding a specialist District Judge at Westminster Magistrates’ Court that extradition would be oppressive under s.14 of the Extradition Act 2003 due to the passage of time since the offences and also would constitute a disproportionate interference in the private and family life of the Requested Person (RP) and his family contrary to Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. The RP had been sought by Poland to serve a sentence of two years and 5 months for offences of robbery and forgery which had been committed when he was in his 20’s.

The client literally wept with joy upon being discharged and was enormously grateful and relieved.

George was instructed by Magdalena Motyl of Bark & Co
