Maria Karaiskos KC and Kevin Molloy secure ‘not guilty’ verdicts for client on charges of murder and manslaughter

Maria Karaiskos KC and Kevin Molloy have secured ‘not guilty’ verdicts for their client on charges of murder and manslaughter, following two trials at St Albans Crown Court.
The defendant, a mother in her 40’s, was alleged to have killed a disabled man following a group altercation in Hertfordshire. The altercation took place in the context of ongoing disputes between the defendant’s family and the deceased’s family.
The case involved careful scrutiny of the evidence to demonstrate (1) that it was not actually the defendant who inflicted the blows which caused death and (2) that the defendant was not acting together with anyone else as part of a joint enterprise.
Maria and Kevin were instructed by Glen Henry at Lawtons Solicitors.
