Lucia Coerman secures successful outcome in challenging youth case

Following a three-day trial, Lucia Coerman has secured a not-guilty outcome for her client.

The matter involved serious sexual allegations arising from an incident on public transport, with significant issues around disclosure from the outset. Despite repeated refusals, Lucia pursued multiple disclosure applications, eventually obtaining material that proved crucial to the defence.

The disclosure revealed serious shortcomings in the investigation, and in light of both this and inconsistencies explored in cross-examination, the defendant was found Not Guilty on all charges. The case represented a reminder of the fundamental importance of proper disclosure and persistence in ensuring a fair trial.
