Charlotte Bull is an experienced and highly regarded criminal barrister who accepts instructions to both prosecute and defend across the full spectrum of criminal offences. She is particularly sought after in cases involving homicide, serious violence, county lines conspiracies, firearms offences, rape and serious sexual offences (RASSO), child abuse allegations and complex cases involving vulnerable witnesses.
Charlotte is recognised for her meticulous preparation, strong jury advocacy and sensitive yet robust handling of challenging cases. She is regularly instructed in matters involving difficult evidential issues, complex disclosure, digital evidence, expert witnesses and vulnerable complainants or defendants.
Charlotte’s previous experience at the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), serving as both a Senior Crown Prosecutor and Acting District Crown Prosecutor has afforded her a detailed understanding of how charging decisions are made, how complex investigations are built and, crucially for defence clients, where weaknesses in a prosecution case may arise. She is particularly adept at identifying disclosure issues, evidential shortcomings and investigative failings.
Charlotte’s extensive experience on both sides of the criminal justice system enables her to provide strategic advice from the earliest stages of a case. She is frequently instructed in legally and factually complex matters and is particularly valued for her ability to work closely with solicitors and lay clients facing serious allegations.
Her instructing solicitors have described her as ‘super focussed’, ‘sharp and reliable’ and ‘an excellent cross examiner’.
Charlotte is appointed to the CPS Advocate Panel at Grade 3 for both General Crime and RASSO.
