Maria Karaiskos KC prosecutes a series of rapes on a child and her mother by the father/husband
The case revolves around complex genitourinary evidence and paediatric medicine, with numerous medical experts to be called, including world renowned scientists from abroad for both prosecution and defence on child sexual abuse.
The case will consider the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Guideline (PCPCH) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence Guideline (NICE).
The case further involves issues surrounding the causation of sexually transmitted diseases. Evidence will include analysis of diagnostic tests for Neisseria gonnorrhoeae and chlamydia trachomatis, known as culture and Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAATs).
Maria has been instructed by Crown Prosecution Service, via the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) London department.
