Maria Karaiskos KC successfully concludes historic sex case

Maria Karaiskos KC has successfully concluded a historic sex case in which her client, now an adult, was accused of sexual offences against an 8-year-old when he was aged 13.

The issues at trial were whether the complainant had conflated, or confused, her account with other instances of sexual abuse. Her descriptions of the alleged perpetrator and the location of the offences were also shown to be markedly different from those which existed at the time. The jury acquitted the defendant in less than an hour.
