Michael Polak chairs independent review into the conditions for a free and fair election in Pakistan
Michael Polak has chaired an independent review into the conditions for a free and fair election in Pakistan on 8 February 2024.
Commissioned by concerned members of the Pakistani diaspora, the review assesses evidence in relation to the current conditions to determine whether the conditions allow for a fair election to take place.
The panel included US Senator Paul Strauss, Romanian MP Cătălin Dragoș Teniță, Australian Senator David Shoebridge, and South African MP Brandon Pillay.
On 25 January, the panel heard extensive evidence from a range of witnesses with first-hand experience of political conditions in Pakistan, including those based in the country and abroad.
