Michael Polak Instructed to Represent Illustrator Greta Samuel in Political Artwork Dispute

Church Court’s Michael Polak has been instructed to represent illustrator Greta Samuel. Greta published a political image featuring Chinese President Xi Jinping on Behance.net, a sharing platform for artists, a political statement against the actions of the Chinese Communist Party as part of a series focussing on resistance by democratic groups.  Her employer Culture Trip demanded that she remove the artwork, which she created in her own time, and have initiated disciplinary procedures against her.

Michael Polak stated ‘this is an important case for freedom of expression and the ability of individuals to publish personal political opinions without having to worry about losing their livelihoods’

The case has been reported in the Daily Star here https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/artist-faces-sack-over-illustration-22062429

Michael Polak is available for instruction for international and human rights matters by contacting Church Court’s clerking team
