Michael Polak Representing the Family of Avtar Singh Khanda, Sikh Activist who Died in Suspicious Circumstances in Birmingham.

Church Court Michael Polak is representing the family of Avtar Singh Khanda, a Sikh Activist who died on 15 June 2023. At a a press conference on 2 October 2023, Michael announced that a formal request had been submitted to the Chief Coroner to open an inquest into the death and to request that a High Court Judge or retired High Court Judge be appointed for that purpose.  Mr Khanda’s suspicious death was in the context of the assassination of the Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar on 18 June 2023 in Canada. Mr Khanda had received several threats to his life from individuals connected to the Indian state after he was wrongly implicated in the removal of the Indian flag during a protest at the Indian High Commission in London on 19 March 2023.
