Church Court Chambers offers a wealth of international law services, with Members advising and acting across numerous jurisdictions and practice areas. Chambers is dedicated to supporting lawyers and clients worldwide. Over the years, we have developed strong working relationships with respected lawyers and firms in Canada, Mexico, the United States, the Middle East, Mauritius, Bermuda and Europe. Our Associate Members include foreign-qualified lawyers and experts, one of whom was recently appointed as a Judge in the United States.

Recent international work has included:

- Acting for a South American NGO challenging the supply of drone technology to Iran for onward use by Russia.

- Representing the Uyghur people in a universal jurisdiction prosecution before the Argentinian courts.

- Conducting an investigation for a private school in Africa concerning alleged impropriety in examination processes.

- Representing claimants against a global oil company operating in Nigeria.

- Advising and making submissions to the Canadian Aviation Authority following a plane crash.

- Advising and representing members of foreign Royal Families, with our team’s discretion and professionalism formally commended.

- Defending in a major international carbon trading fraud case.

- Advising on alleged international war crimes, including work in Kosovo.

- Handling cross-jurisdictional issues in several international fraud cases, including in the context of private prosecutions.

- Advising members of the Syrian opposition in exile, as well as on allegations of international corruption.

- Acting for a politician who was unlawfully detained and tortured by foreign security services.

- Advising on UK universal jurisdiction provisions in relation to a visiting foreign military general.

- Advising a multi-billion-dollar Japanese financial institution on insider trading and assisting in drafting new compliance policies and protocols.

International Engagement

Members of Chambers have worked for and appeared before international tribunals, including the Special Court for Sierra Leone in The Hague and the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (the “Khmer Rouge Tribunal”). Our barristers have also delivered advocacy training in the United States and the Caribbean.

- Lewis Power KC recently presented a programme in the Maldives at the invitation of the British High Commission.
- Colin Witcher served as a visiting lecturer for several years on comparative trial advocacy in the United States.
- Benjamin Aina KC is a visiting lecturer in Florida for an international advocacy programme, joined in 2025 by Maria Karaiskos KC.

Michael Polak of our International Group was awarded the International Bar Association’s Outstanding Young Lawyer Award (2021), recognised as the most outstanding young lawyer globally for his commitment to defending human rights. IBA President Sternford Moyo described him as “relentless in the pursuit of justice.”

Kerim Fuad KC is a founding member of the Cypriot Lawyers Society (CLS), which fosters professional connections and community engagement.
