Pupillage applications open for 2025 and 2026

Church Court Chambers is a leading multidisciplinary set with a proud reputation for being professional, approachable and modern. Chambers’ main practice areas are crime, regulatory, family, immigration and extradition, however, many individual members have their own areas of specialism (for example sports law and international public law).

Chambers’ members, including 45 juniors and six King’s Counsel, enjoy busy and varied practices; collectively they have an enviable back catalogue of high-profile and complex matters, such as the Marrache Fraud Case, the FA Southwark Bribery and Corruption Trial, and the Vietnamese Lorry case in which the defendants faced 39 counts of manslaughter. They have appeared at every level, including in the Supreme Court, Privy Council and the European Court of Human Rights, and individually they are all highly regarded and respected by their peers and the judiciary.

Pupillage will be for 12 months with at least three supervisors within our criminal group, where pupils will gain experience of prosecution and defence work, and pupils can expect to be on their feet every day during their second six. We stress that despite being a multidisciplinary set, the pupillage will focus almost exclusively on crime.

Funding is £26,400 a year: £2,200 pupillage award monthly in the first six months, and £2,000 guaranteed earnings and £200 a month travel award monthly in the second six months.

Starts dates are flexible, but we anticipate start dates in or around September 2025 and April 2026, with a total of three pupillages available.

Application is by way of a Pupillage Form which can be downloaded here.

The completed form must be sent by email to Teressa Groves by no later than 11.59pm on 6 February 2025: t.groves@churchcourtchambers.co.uk

Please note that first round interviews will be on Saturday 29 March 2025.
