Successes for Michelle Clarke at the Court of Appeal and Woolwich Crown Court

Michelle Clarke recently secured successful outcomes in two separate cases, one at the Court of Appeal and the other at Woolwich Crown Court, both in the same week.

In the Court of Appeal, Michelle resisted the prosecution’s application to appeal a terminatory ruling (the stay of proceedings made after an abuse of process application). The Court ruled that they could not hear the appeal because the prosecution had sent the acquittal guarantee 90 minutes later than the notice of appeal.

Michelle also represented a defendant facing allegations of historic sex offences at Woolwich Crown Court, who was cleared by a jury of all charges
