Successful outcome for Lesley Manley as client acquitted

The case involved serious injuries to two officers who were attempting to prevent the defendant from escaping from the scene of a lawful drug search. One officer required an operation to repair a tendon and the second sustained a detached ligament in his hand.
The defendant showed significant regret for both injuries, and the video evidence of the incident was closely scrutinised.
The jury unanimously acquitted the defendant of assault occasioning actual bodily harm as it could not be established that unlawful force had been used.
Lesley was instructed by Dexter Henry & Co Solicitors.
