Llewellyn Culver-Evans secures acquittal for his client in violent disorder trial

Llewellyn Culver-Evans mounted a successful defence of his client, NI, who was charged with violent disorder alongside his brother.
The case involved two families involved in a violent altercation, during the course of which one of the defendants was run over, suffering life-changing injuries. Llewellyn’s client had always maintained that he was present as a peacemaker, and did not participate in the violence.
The trial involved a thorough examination of the evidence presented by the prosecution, with a particular focus on the testimonies of the Crown’s witnesses. Through careful and strategic cross-examination, Llewellyn exposed significant inconsistencies and weaknesses in their accounts, casting serious doubt on the prosecution’s case.
Llewellyn mounted a forensic examination of the CCTV and mobile phone footage, submitting that it clearly showed NI in the role of a peacemaker, and not, as the Crown alleged, a contributor to the violence.
Following a 9-day trial at Luton Crown Court, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty in respect of both defendants.
Llewellyn was instructed by Aashar Malik of Woolfe & Co Solicitors.
